Gloucester BID was initiated to help make Gloucester a safe, attractive place to do business, shop, visit, study and invest. Moving forward, our objectives are to further enhance the city’s offering by improving safety and security, by increasing marketing and events to drive footfall, and through working with relevant authorities to improve cleanliness and the physical environment. The BID supports levy paying businesses in the proposed area and look towards achieving cost savings and improved services for its members as well as being the voice as businesses, lobbying hard on behalf of its members. Our vision directly reflects your priorities.
For Gloucester, there were 8 planned focus areas. The BID has had great successes in ‘Safety and Security’ with the hiring of the City Protection Officers working in co-ordination with Gloucester City Safe which in 2017 resulted in a 46% drop in business crime, and a 85% reduction in incidents.
We’ve dressed the streets with bunting, flowers and flags to brighten the city for some of our extra events including supporting the Aethelflaed celebrations, Gloucester Folk Trail, Christmas Maze and the giant zip wire that saw a 20,000 footfall increase for the duration, with even more exciting things to come.
Gloucester BID has supported businesses promoting events and advertising through our social media, website and ‘business of the week’ offering, including advertising to visit Gloucester on local radio.
We are working in collaboration with Business West and Gloucester Chamber of Commerce to provide quality, useful networking events. Many businesses have saved thousands through our Business Cost Reduction and we’ve worked hard lobbying for our businesses for trade waste, parking and permits and much more.
